passing thoughts

I have this nagging cough that is not going away no matter how much rest, or fluids, or chicken noodle soup I get.  I’ve been sick since Sunday and now that all of the other symptoms of this cold  are gone I have suddenly developed a cough and I’m tired of it… I am going to camp this weekend and the last thing I want is to be coughing the whole time and unable to enjoy my time with the kids!  Does anyone have any suggestions or remedies to help me feel better?

This morning in church my 3 year olds had said lots of funny things … here are my two favorites:

girl “I get to go to a really special store today…  it’s called Target!”

boy “I have a booger” (I give him a kleenex) “I got it out … with my finger!”

I could just sit and listen to them all day long they are so cute and they love telling me stories about even the most simple things like what they ate for breakfast or how they picked out their clothes for the day!

Earlier this week someone I don’t know super well did something that not only  hurt my feelings but made me look bad and I have been trying to decide weather or not to speak up  and ask her about her actions or just keep quiet … It’s really bugging me  and I really want to know why she did it, but at the same time I don’t want to make things awkward between us  when I still have to see her around.  What do you guys think should I say something or not?

I had a great time over Christmas and New Years catching up with friends near and far, but this past week I have been coming down from that high and feeling pretty lonely.  I realized how much I miss being around my friends and am so thankful that I got to see so many of them the past couple weeks.  I just wish we all lived closer to each other and  could hang out more than once or twice a year. 

That combined with some work stress has made a pretty hard few days- I start school again on Monday and am hoping that settling back into a routine will make me miss my  friends less and make it easier for me to spend time with the friends who do live close to me!

Yup, I’m writing a stereotypical New Year’s post and list ten of the events that stick out to me from the past year, but I will include photos :)

1. I traveled to both Haiti and Ecuador

2. I had close friends move away from Michigan and close friends move back to Michigan

3. I saw 4 good friends get married and the maid of honor for one

4. Someone I’m very close to was diagnosed with breast cancer and dealt with chemo treatments

5. I took a class at mars hill twice and got to know two great families who I now sit by at church on Sunday’s

6. I didn’t get to go horseback riding even once (this better change in 2012)

7. I became a room leader for preschoolers at mars hill which means volunteering every Sunday

8. I had lots of photography jobs from weddings, to families, to completely random things like Halloween costumes of Red Riding Hood

9. I got a guitar and am excited to learn how to play

10. I did not get in a car accident or need to shop for a car!

Just spent a few days on the east side of the state reuniting with some of my closest friends from college.  It is always so great being with these girls because we have known each other through good times and bad and know each other really well.  These are the same girls who I shared traveling pants with, minus one, and though it’s been three years sine we (Meg, Kim and I) graduated college and stopped being roommates when we are together conversations pick up right where they left off as if no time has passed.

I was sad to leave Kimmy’s house yesterday because I miss her and our college days a lot sometimes.  Yes, I have made friends these past three years, and they are great girls, but the relationship is just not the same becasue we don’t have the history.  As our lives change and we move around the world (literally, Gwen has been in England and last year Kim was in Ecuador) I am even more thankful for reunions like this and friends who I can just relax and be myself around, friends who know me as well as I know myself!

So I’ve come to dread phone calls from work because my boss continues to tell me things I am doing wrong!  I’ve had this job for over two years now and I guess there are a lot of policies I still don’t know about becasue I’ve never had issues until recently…

For example my boss called me today and said “remember the policy is ….” well I don’t know how I am supposed  to remember  something I had never heard before.  I  calmly thanked him for the new information and emphasized that it was new to me and I would make sure to keep it in mind for the future.  I am continually being treated like a rule breaker which if he knew me at all would know is not true!  I am just doing my job the way I always have and my consumers are happy so why is my supervisor so unhappy?!?! 

It makes me so frustrated and so angry but honestly I have had three supervisors in the past two years and this current one is the worst just becasue he is not personable.  In my opinion he lacks the people skills needed to do this job, I get the feeling he does not like me and it makes me dislike him.  I really do like my job it’s just my boss who makes it annoying.
