The Brown's New Baby Boy
My friends from camp Emily and Aaron recently had their second child, a little boy and I was invited to dinner at their house last night. I spent like 5 hours hanging out with them and our friend Christine and their kids. I had a lot of fun, took lots of baby pictures and after watching it played many times I finally learned to play the game Settlers of Catan (a favorite among camp staff). ...

My "sister"
Those of you who know me well are aware that I am from a family of boys.  I have three brothers, and all my cousins are all boys making me the only girl in my family this generation … but about 9 years ago I met a family whose daughter has become like a younger sister to me.  And today, Christmas Eve, is her 13th birthday. Todd, his wife Beth, and their two (now three) kids came to my home...

new car, christmas party, and chicago
Wow, I had such a busy weekend filled with good things!  I finally got a new (used) car after almost three weeks of relying on others to get around I now have my independance back.  Its not the car I wanted, but it is the one my parents and I agreed upon and it will hopefully last me longer than a year. Friday I had the pleasure of attending a christmas party at Meghan and Kellen’s and at...

car shopping
I’ve learned that I hate shopping for cars, I spent all day yesterday in Kalamazoo driving around to different car lots with my dad and we only saw 3 cars that are somewhat within our price range and are decent.  This is becomming so frustrating, and there’s still no word from  the insurance company about when we will get the money from my totalled car (it was  supposed to  be last...

snow day thoughts
(dinner last night- the two blond girls, the one standing, and girl jumping on her live on my street) Even though I don’t have class on Thursday’s I am still able to appreciate the snow because I didn’t have to go to Rockford to  meet one of my consumers :) However, my neighbor (AJ Gretz) was kind enough to brave the blizzard  conditions to drive me to an from a work training...

Always Learning
Have you ever noticed that people often say “God is teaching you something…” when life seems to be particularly difficult?  Well, I’ve been told that multiple times and it gets irritating when I don’t know what I am supposed to be learning.  Today though, someone helped me see some positive things that could come from my currently not having a car and for the first...

Car Update
So the insurance company has decided they will give me $3,000 and total my car.  This is not what I was hoping for.  First of all, my car was worth closer to $5,000 so I feel like they owe me more than what I’m going to get.  Secondly, shopping for a new car takes a lot more time and effort than getting my car fixed.  That means I am totally reliant on other people to get around for a longer...

Ho, Ho . . . Whoa! Secularists Get the Holiday... →
A friend at camp just told me about this and I was so shocked! I didn’t know that there was such a movement to take God out of the Holiday season.  It makes me kind of sad.
